We don’t offer a general framing service for artwork purchased on line because it is more practical for the buyer to go to a local framer and decide how best to present the artwork in the buyers environment. |
|
However, there are times when photographs are offered framed, as an alternative to rolled and tubed, when our particular style of presentation is required. All of the images in the current “VIEWPOINT” exhibition are presented as “floating or suspended” images and the following explanation describes how it’s done. |

After printing, the photograph is allowed to dry in a dust free environment for a day or two. |

|
The first stage is to mount the dried and stabilized print onto a sheet of substrate, for stability we use a composite material which will not warp and is extremely strong and light weight. After mounting, the print edges are trimmed flush to the mount and a protective spray applied. |

The next stage is to attach “spacers” to the rear of the print mount. The length of these will determine the depth of the image within the frame |

The mount is now carefully positioned and attached to the backing panel which will fit snugly within the frame. This photo shows how the spacers lift the white mount on the left from the black backing panel on the right. |

Spacer lengths are now fixed along each inner edge of the frame, butted up to the glass so that when positioned, the backing panel holds the photograph away from the glass making the image appear to float inside the frame. |

In the final stage the components are brought together and the frame carefully sealed for added protection. |
