Carron Ironworks Cast Iron Lustre Finish Ashtray

I think this ashtray could be dated to the 1960’s when it would have been presented by Carron to Dr John Roebuck, my uncle, whose ancestor, the first Dr John Roebuck built the foundry on the banks of the Carron river in Stirlingshire in 1760, with his brothers and a couple of business colleagues. It came to me through my mother who was Dr Roebuck’s sister. There is a fascinating history behind this simple item, told in detail in “The Roebuck Story by Senator A W Roebuck” . A little bit of Scottish industrial heritage history. Very Good condition. Weight 760gms.
